ROME, July 4 (Reuters) - Alcatel (Paris: 13000.PA - topicality ) transtated - Zbyslaw currently discusses with several Italian companies mobile telephony the means of developing a network UMTS, and Wind is not its only interlocutor, declared Tuesday the sales manager of the equipment supplier French for telecommunications.
The agreement between Wind and Alcatel is not exclusive, added Gaetano Pellegrino, in margin of a conference in Italy. " We have also discussions with other operators interested by licences UMTS ".
The agreement, continued Pellegrino, does not envisage the creation of a company or an exchange of actions. Alcatel and Wind should make soon an advertisement concerning this agreement.
Tuesday morning, the French operator let know that it would invest 2,6 billion euros ($2,5 billion) in the development of networks UMTS, which is equivalent to 9% of its total turnover.
Pellegrino specified that Alcatel had had contacts with Blu, TIM, Andala, Dix.it and certain shareholders of Atlanet. It did not provide details. All these operators intend to contribute for the grant of a licence UMTS.
