As a kid the Fourth of July meant only one thing to me, I could buy and shoot-off firecrackers.

I would work hard for my Dad doing anything that would reward me with a buck. I filled in a trench in our back yard at the age of eight. Took me weeks of work after school to do this but I got a ten dollar bill.
For a kid in the 1950's, I was rolling in the dough.

All ten bucks went to firecrackers, and that was alot of them then! Many of which were those big red "2-inchers".
I would slowly use them up over the summer and always saved a few for an emergency; whatever that was.
I will set off a few today for all my SI cyber pals.
