"Surfing the TV trying to find something to fall asleep to..."
Wow Karen,
If falling asleep is what you wanted, watching these shows ain't gonna do it!!!!
Too bad I missed the show. Sure sounds very interesting indeed. Something which would keep me from falling asleep.
There are millions upon millions of things out there for which we know little or nothing at all (yet). I only wish that life was long enough for us to have the time to learn about them.
Speaking of longevity, allow me to give you some food for thought. You've undoubtedly heard about experimental brain transplants which are proposed as a solution to eternal life. The THEORY being that our bodies age but our brains can go on forever. Therefore, eternal life can be achieved by placing an old brain in a new body.
There is another solution which I present to you. Maybe you can reflect on it and give me your thoughts.
What makes Karen Holt? The answer, IMO, is quite simple. Karen Holt is a compilation of every single experience you have had in your life. From the time your mother held your hand as a child to the run in with the garage mechanic. From the exchanges here on SI to your first broken heart you felt in grade 2 when that cute boy turned you down in favor of your girlfriend.
Just like cloning a computer, suppose we can devise a method to record all of your lifetime's experiences, physical as well as emotional, and then download them into a NEW baby's brain. I suggest to you that that baby is now Karen Holt.
We can take this one step further and download your brain's experiences into a "super computer", that computer would also be Karen Holt. This concept would certainly allow for space travelling. Imagine storing your brain into a computer and ten thousand years later when you arrive to your galactic destination you download your brain to a brand new cloned body which was kept frozen for this purpose.
On the other hand, the ability to store a brain's into a computer would make space travel obsolete. Rather than travelling through the stars at impossible WARP speed you could simply transmit your brain from one computer on one side of the universe to another computer at the opposite side, trillions of light years away. Hmmmm, maybe Hollywood Sci-Fi writers are reading this thread.
Cheers
Vince
PS - My new bride finds it quite interesting that another woman is thinking about me in the middle of the night <ggg> |
