What a nice memory to share Puna! Here's a nice site for Everyone on America's Birthday....
Ahhhhhh, those 50's were great...we used to go to my Grandparent's place (over the river and through the woods), have fried chicken, potato salad, cold tomatoes from the garden, homemade vanilla ice cream with fresh raspberries all over the top (ice cream freezer handle turned by the kids IF WE WERE REALLY GOOD>....we were, and "got" to turn it, then lick the beaters later.... Then at dark, the men would give each of the kids sparklers to run around with, and then we would all sit down to watch them light the "Big Ones"....In those days, they were BIG, and REAL...and most probably dangerous....
Puna, those big 2 inch red ones were really loud....and the little ones, surely made lots of noise for their size!
Wonder if SI will let me post this this time....before all it said was "error writing to database..."
HAPPY 4th EVERYONE! ~K~
