I bought BEL a month ago for wireless and DSL play. I was surprised to see the stock weakening even though the company has so much going for it before and after the GTE merger. Glad to see the stock moving up $4 on its first day of trade. Wonder why investors were not keen on Bell Atlantic. Is it the name? Is it the fact it is MA BELL? Is it perceived as being as old economy stock? Seems to me this stock has new and old economy, plus a nice dividend.
