I'm hoping that the claim has no merit. A lot depends on industry and analyst reaction over the next couple of weeks. If, after all the details are "out", there is a sense that the case is weak, I wouldn't be surprised if DEC's board gets nervous and instructs that the suit be settled [Palmer might be history if this happens]. But I don't rule out the possibility of it going into full litigation and stretching out for years, or of it being settled out-of-court relatively quickly.

My inclination is not to question DEC's motives. From the tone of Palmer's comments, I think he feels genuinely wronged [even if he is simply wrong]. But, motives aside, the action also has to have an objective .... after all, the court can't undo the past, no matter what the circumstances. If the objectives are in the BILLIONS plus Intel redesign all of its chips, then the objectives will not be met short of litigation to a verdict. If the objectives are more modest, then it might settle in the relatively near future.
