WaveRider And Big Thanks Corporation Bring High-Speed Wireless Internet Services To Japan
08:23 EDT Wednesday, July 05, 2000

TORONTO, ONTARIO--

Agreement marks the introduction of WaveRider products to Japanese ISPs

WaveRider Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: WAVC, Frankfurt WVR.FSE), a leading global provider of wireless Internet access
products, today announced it has finalized an agreement with Big Thanks Corporation to offer wireless product solutions to
Internet Service Providers in Japan. Under the agreement, Big Thanks will market WaveRider's NCL and Last Mile Solution(r)
products to enable Japanese ISPs to offer high speed wireless Internet services.

Tokyo-based Big Thanks Corporation has delivered WaveRider's NCL135, which received JATE product type approval earlier this
year, to ISP's in Kashima, Osaka, Mito, Yokohama and Nagoya.

"There is tremendous demand among Japanese companies for reliable, cost-effective, high speed Internet access," said
Yoshinori Daiku, President, Big Thanks Corporation. "Our customers will benefit from the cost savings and level of service we
can provide using WaveRider's NCL products. We anticipate that our sales of WaveRider's products will increase exponentially
as more users realize the benefits of wireless Internet access."

According to the Nikkei, a major Japanese financial newspaper, there are more than 20 million people with Internet access in
Japan, representing an increase of 80 per cent in the last year. It is predicted that number will increase to 70 million by 2005.

"Our agreement with Big Thanks represents a significant opportunity for WaveRider to establish its presence in one of the most
exciting and fast-growing technology markets in the world," said Michael Orloff, Vice President, International, WaveRider
Communications, Inc. "Our business relationship with Big Thanks is part of our strategy to align ourselves with leading
companies around the globe to offer innovative wireless Internet access products and communications solutions to our
customers."

The NCL135 is part of WaveRider's Network Communication Link (NCL) family of products that includes the NCL1135. The NCL
products provide secure, high-speed wireless connections for LAN-to-LAN and LAN-to-Internet connectivity. WaveRider's
LMS2000 provides last mile connectivity between the Internet and local area networks at speeds up to 11Mbps.

Big Thanks Corporation is a full service provider of products and services for the wireless Internet and telecommunications
market. The company has established business relationships with telecommunications companies throughout Japan to provide
distribution, installation and service solutions to its customers. The company plans to increase its focus on the wireless Internet
market, providing a lower cost alternative for services to the general Japanese population. As part of its growth strategy, Big
Thanks plans to apply for a listing on the Mothers Board of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
