While it looks like AT&T Wireless wants to pursue the EDGE solution to data communications, a recent management change at AT&T (the real boss), hiring a former Sprint executive, suggests that AT&T knows that unless it switches to CDMA, it cannot remain competitive.

Note also that the capital costs of switching from TDMA to CDMA are not all that high for base station equipment. The main cost would be in replacing existing TDMA handsets. They could have a trade-in policy, which would likely benefit some of the existing CDMA handset manufacturers like Kyocera, Samsung, or Motorola.

All I'm saying is that we should not jump to any conclusions that AT&T is commited to TDMA.
