Hi Diana, normally the liquidity and the volume of a stock
can increase to some degree when options start to trade on
it.

In terms of direction.

Industry and company fundamentals
and relative valuations that the market places on groups
tends to be a bigger factor in what happens to the stock
price.

There have been examples of stocks that are "story" or fad
stocks that are at their zenith right around the time
when options start trading, but no hard and fast rule.

And that is the except, and not the rule.
