Article on the front page of The Washington Post Business section about the introduction of the U-Scan to the Giant grocery store chain here in Washington DC. The article implies that Giant will be buying close to 150 U-Scans just for the DC area alone (29 stores over the next few years with 4 U-Scans per store).

Very positive article about adoption by customers and that various unions have not opposed the move to self-scanning. The article did mention that several technologies are in development (scan on the aisles, full cart scan) that may challenge the U-Scan in the future.
