Globalstar Service launch in Ukraine! kyivstar.net "Kyivstar GSM" began providing "Globalstar" satellite communication service for the first time in Ukraine Starting from June 22, 2000 for the first time in Ukraine "Kyivstar GSM" began providing its subscribers with satellite communication service of "Globalstar" system in the mode of "friendly testing". Commercial launch of the service is expected from the beginning of July. Technical support to the project is rendered by "Elsacom Ukraine" company which is the exclusive service provider of "Globalstar" satellite communication services in Ukraine, Belorussia and Moldova. From now "Kyivstar GSM" subscriber, having double-mode (GSM/Globalstar) mobile telephone, will be able to use both mobile communication services of GSM-900 standard and satellite communication "Globalstar", where there is no GSM coverage, and hence - be always available independent on his or her location in Ukraine. Moreover, the subscriber will use one telephone number, receive one bill and use the same point of service. "Globalstar" is a global satellite system of communication developed on the basis of the group of 48 low-orbit satellites. It is developed with appliance of the most modern innovative technologies, which guarantees optimal coverage in any place of the Earth for each user. Its main purpose is provision of reliable and affordable services of mobile and fixed satellite telephony throughout the world.
