Salomon Smith Barney downgrades the semiconductor group from OUTPERFORM to NEUTRAL. Individual names being cut include AMD, TXN, NSM, SSTI.

Timing seems suspect to me - Earnings seasons and Semicon trade show next week.

“Though a slowdown in the group may take six to nine months, we see ‘first mover’ evidence of a trend reversal in decelerating industry unit shipments coupled with price declines,” analyst Jonathan Joseph wrote in a research note. Salomon added that the group might experience peak capital spending growth rates this year.
