Rajamangala Institute of Technology Selects Redback Networks to Deploy Remote Broadband Services to 86,000 Students
BANGKOK, Thailand, Jul 5, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Redback Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: RBAK chart, msgs), a leading provider of advanced broadband networking solutions, today announced that Rajamangala Institute of Technology (RIT) has selected Redback's Subscriber Management System(TM) (SMS) to deploy remote high-speed Internet services to the RIT's 86,000 students on 38 campuses across the country.

Redback made this announcement today at the Annual Networks Thai Telecoms 2000 show that is being held from July 5-7, 2000 at the Bangkok Convention Center, where Redback is exhibiting at booth E16.

Redback's SMS technology will support RIT's plan to offer remote Internet and intranet access to students registered on the RITnet network. Deployment of these access services will begin in September to coincide with the start of the new school semester.

This is the first time that Redback is collaborating with an educational institute in Asia to deploy broadband services.

The SMS products are intelligent networking devices designed to speed the deployment of broadband services, to provide a scalable 4operational model for managing subscribers, and to enable the creation of new value-added services.

"Redback's powerful, secure subscriber management technology allows RIT to quickly provision new users on their metropolitan network and gives them the ability to address the needs of their existing students," said Steve Young, vice president, Asia Pacific Operations at Redback.

RIT's Professor Nivat Jaruvarakul said: "We have chosen Redback's SMS because we believe it to be the most powerful solution today for managing high-speed subscribers. The fast evolving needs of RITnet requires a highly scalable and cost-effective traffic management solution like the one that Redback offers."
