David, this will probably get me flamed....BUT I for one, am disgusted with the "lawsuit" threat at every drop of the hat...It sounds like a bunch of spoiled children stomping their feet, and demanding something be fixed....
Who wins with lawsuits of this type??? Take NXTL.....just HOW did 300+ people AT THE SAME TIME just happen to come and list their complaints to the SAME big law firm? Does anyone ever think to ask just how that happened???
Who will win with MSFT??? The poor "consumer"...who is, BTW, a taxpayer, and whose taxes are being used to fund both the Federal attorneys as well as the State attorneys....when in fact, those same taxes could be by far better used to help with our elderly, or veterans, and/or lots of other etcs.
You mentioned "mega lawsuits placed and won on far less" Could you name the top 10 of those, and just how much EACH individual gained from EACH one, after all the fees and attorney fees were taken out.....probably next to nada....
What has happened this past week on SI has probably made each of us very unhappy, for all sorts of reasons! But most of all, I'm just sad that no word was posted on the front page that would let us all who are shareholders, as well as paid subscribers, know that there were problems, and that those problems were being addressed. Adults can handle problems, and hopefully help come up with solutions....spoiled children can't.
