I don't like the idea of a "boycott" either, but I think I am mostly saying that as long as certain individuals and threads continue on SI, I will continue to post/lurk here. I came to SI originally as a completely novice investor and I used SI to learn about the technical aspects and psychology of investing. During those years, I have been able to cull what I consider to be the most knowledgeable and thought provoking threads and posters. But it took time. Trial and error. But ultimately, it has made me money. And that is basically my bottom line. I would hate to have to "start over" with another site (one of the reasons I never frequent Yahoo is the inability to "know" posters renders it basically useless to me). I don't take anything I read on a message board site as fundamental to my investing, but I would have to be honest and say that what I have read over the past few years has given me impetus to research companies, take some financial risk, and make some money.

All that being said, if SI continues to ignore what is in the best interests of the "content providers" I would ultimately do what you have suggested, but right now I'm weighing the benefits of leaving (protection of privacy) to the detriments (leaving my "sources").

I still think that SI should allow us to change our sign in names as a precautionary measure against future lapses in security, and I frankly don't understand why this should be a problem for them.
