Well, Globalstar has unveiled a new "plan" for coverage rollout as well as a new list of "expected service coverage as of June 30th" dated 30June2000.
globalstar.com
It indicates 40 countries covered as of 6/30, nineteen fewer than the previous list dated June 1.
The nineteen deferred countries are: Albania, Belarus, Belize, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Tunisia and Ukraine.
All of these are indicated as expected "in service by September 30, 2000" along with the N. Atlantic (between 30 and 70 N Latitude), Algeria, the rest of S. America (except NW Brazil, Bolivia and Ecuador), and Saudi Arabia. Projected N. Atlantic coverage date has moved forward 1 Qtr from the last map, but Southern Africa has slipped 1 Qtr, and Egypt is no longer given a start date forecast. Otherwise the map looks about the same as before.
It's interesting that GLP claims that Peru is now "in service" as TeSAM has made no announcement to that effect. Similarly, Honduras, said by GLP to be in service, is not so indicated by SP G*Americas. OTOH, Globalstar Northern Europe indicates service is available in Sweden and Denmark, which GLP does not counnt and G*USA insists its customers can roam in several European and S.American countries where service to locals is apparently not available.
