This is similar to Art Buchwald vs. Paramount and Eddie Murphy of a few years
ago. Buchwald pitched an idea to Murphy about a Prince who comes to America.
The deal fell apart. Two years later Murphy writes a similar script and makes
Coming to America. Paramount lost, but all Buchwald got was 1 million
dollars which didn't pay legal fees. I think that was based on what
he would have been paid if they had given him credit. In Hollywood they
are very careful about opening packages because of this. Once they look
at something it can be used against them. Intel saw DEC's Alpha plans. Grove
made comments to the Wall Street Journal about how intel doesn't come up
with anything new they just take things from others. Intel is guilty in any
court with a jury unless I'm missing something. The only question is
the settlement. Not likely to be too severe since Intel is so important, but
could add up. Also, remember what happened to Murphy's career after that trial.
Not good publicity for Intel. I hope Grove doesn't drive any cross dressing
men home from now on.
