David, I have heard that, re >Technically, it's the Friday preceding the third Saturday. However, sometimes it's the following Friday, for some unknown reason.< The Schwab booklet says "For stock options, this date is the Saturday immediately following the third Friday of the expiration month. If Friday is a holiday, the last trading day will be the preceding Thursday".
