WHY are we DETECTIVES? Analyzing the hospital and its staff; speculating on various causes of death; proposing treatments that may or may not have been tried? I wondered about that myself. Came up with two reasons. 1. In times of grief you do almost anything you can. There is a need to be involved. 2. We are on SI because we think we can outthink the experts in one field (investing). We are used to the mindset that we know better than the professionals (and in this arena, we're often right). So we carry that assumption over into medicine, where we assume we have ideas worth considering too. Sometimes we do. But generally, from what I heard these doctors were as good as they get, so I was able to stay out of sticking my 2 cents in. JLA went over there ready to breathe fire at the doctors and came away impressed that they really knew what they were doing. Which was good enough for me. But at any rate, it doesn't do any harm, and might do some good. If we can save a single other person from suffering Edwarda's fate, all the effort will be worth it. Me, I'm waiting for the autopsy report to come out. Which it seems is mighty slow coming. Anybody heard anything about it yet?
