Paul Engel. Re: "And today we have Salomon Sleaze Blarney's Jonathan Jokeseph to fill the bill." Yes, naturally. I was going to add to this AM's post that Intel shares are priced to perfection and it would not take much for us to see the 120's again and then this billet doux from SSleazeB.

The part I liked best in the Reuters report I saw was the following:

"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) Some industry analysts, who disagreed with Joseph's forecast for the sector, said semiconductor stocks were likely to recover in coming weeks on earnings reports that are generally expected to be positive.

Other analysts said investors might have viewed the downgrade as an excuse to take profits after recent run-ups.

``Obviously given the group's stock performance in the past few weeks, there's a lot of profit-taking,'' said Drew Peck, an SG Cowen & Co. analyst.

He said optical communication and high speed data ports would not be affected by a downturn and disagreed with Joseph's negative prognosis for flash memory companies.

Peck said prices for flash memory, which stores information while devices are turned off for ``instant on'' applications such as digital cameras and mobile phones, would rebound from recent declines.

What a laugh. If they aren't trashing the sector themselves, they have to p*** on somebody else who is doing it. I'm sure there will be time enough for everybody to get their licks in before earnings, if they will just get in line.

You would think these guys would ask themselves, "Would Intel be shelling out $6 billion on fabs, if they thought demand was slowing down?" I wish they would take Ben Franklin's advice, "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
