Chaz -

Could this also be what NTT has up its sleeve, with its May 2001 "wCDMA" rollout? How else can they can meet this deadline (within a year!)?

I believe that Lucent and ERICY have contracted with NTT - both with "Q" licenses. NTT could begin its "wCDMA" buildout with CDMA 2000 1x, with no IPR concerns, and have bandwidth to compete with DDI and maintain I-Mode momentum.

Makes sense.

The sharp conceptual line between CDMA and wCDMA has begun to blur. This can only be good.
