after reading hundreds of cases dealing with the fitness of parents I can tell you it takes a GREAT deal to rip a kid away from biological parents in this country. We have a bias toward the natural parent as I think we should.<p>
To qualify as a foster family you must meet certain criteria. I do not know many Miami Cubans- I am sure many of them would make fine parents and /or guardians, but this household would not. The mental breakdowns of Miss Mary are documented. That alone would be enough to ruin their potential as foster parents or adoptive parents of an American child. When you add in unemployment and alcoholism well, as well as a disturbing tendency to use this child publicly as some sort of political coup....
