Uncle Frank, When do you think the first 3G devices will be available on the market?

Do you think it be this Christmas or not until Q1 or Q2 of 2001?

Where are we in the chip production and manufacturing cycle?

Are enough ground stations already upgraded to handle it?

IMHO, perhaps part of the slower-than-expectred sales in cell phones is due to the coming of 3G. What CEO wants to have a warehouse full of old phones when the world switches to a new standard?

ps. I think the question about CDMA patents that rajala spoke to will easily be taken care of. Rajala mentioned that CDMA was widely in use before Dr Jacobs got all those patents on it in the early 1990s. I asked rajala for some references that show how widely used CDMA was (a few urls to credible news sources will do).

Once rajala shows us how widely used CDMA was before being invented, we should all apologize and admit our mistake.
