Yawn!! You only wish we'd buy that bull pucky Bobo...my sources are laughing at your comment and suggest we demand fact and something from you to back up such stink!!

I am sure your sources at Aware (and the bulls on the stock) would laugh at this. Why should the believe such blasphemy when things are so well. I did not expect this one to be easily digested by the group but wanted to get it posted so you all could bow at my feet six months from now.

Admittedly, this is tough to prove since the line cards are not shipping. All I will say is that my sources are Cisco, TI and Globespan. Had to drag it out of Cisco like pulling teeth. ADI will only fall back on the convenient retort, "we do not comment on unannounced designs". I guess I would not either in this situation.

Ok, let try to construct the argument.

1) You have to believe Cisco is going to an Octal port card. They will do this on their newer DSLAM since it has a higher speed backplane than the 6130. Do not know how to prove this since involves alot of connecting the dots and asking questions to the right people.

2) Assuming #1, ADI had no quad silicon until now. The bake-offs are over so ADI could not have participated. Globespan and and TI have had quad silicon shipping sampling since Feb or March.

3) Except for the install base of 6130's that will not be able to support octal cards, why would Cisco ship anything other than octal cards once they are produced. At this point ADI's businesss flattens and slowly declines at Cisco. Yes, they could win designs in the future but that has not happened yet.

BTW, Globespan is now used for all domestic Cisco 4 port DMT and CAP (Flexi card). ADI is used for all international DMT 4 port. This is not a bad position for ADI given Cisco's international strength. But keep in mind that the recent Ameritech/ SBC and other domestic RBOC wins by Cisco will be all Globespan.

You heard it here first.
