Neocon, the terms felon and felony were being used in their strict legal sense. Go back and note Zoltan's intital use of Black's law dictionary and my repeated reference to the words as being "terms of art". The colloquial use was never intended, as in "did you hear that XYZ was fired, that's a felony (or insert crime or any other variation you like). When you say "OJ Simpson is a felon for murdering two people" you are stating that he is a felon in the criminal sense of the word, not the common sense of the word. I stand by the priciple that one CANNOT be a felon unless they are convicted of a felony in a court of law. Commiting an act that is colloquially called a felony DOES NOT make one felon.

However, you have made the least emotional and most logical arguement to date on the topic. Unfortunately your compatriots are not as able to make a reasonable point. They were lost in the morass their own medicracty and failed to grasp even the simple arguement that you have put forth. If they were arguing in the collquial or esoteric sense of the definition I may have not been so shocked as to their lack of intellect. I put forth all of my assumptions and clearly demonstrated my thought process on the subject. It was NO SECRET that we were discussing felon and felony as they are used to denote a criminal in our justice system. Your allies offered no rebuttal except for immature and snide stabs.
