Consortium Bombardier/Adtranz Receives an Order for ten
Street-Trams From the City of Dessau (Germany)

BERLIN, GERMANY--JULY 7, 2000--A consortium of Bombardier Transportation and
Adtranz was awarded a contract by the transport authority of
Dessau (DVG) for the development and delivery of ten street-trams.
The order is valued at approximately 15 million Euro
(approximately $21 million CAN). Delivery of the vehicles is
scheduled for the first half of the year 2002.

Bombardier Transportation in Bautzen, as leader of the consortium,
will be responsible for the development and assembly of the
vehicles, as well as for system integration. Bombardier
Transportation's centre of excellence for electrical equipment in
Berlin will supply electrical components. Adtranz-DaimlerChrysler
Rail Systems will be responsible for the overall design and
implementation of the electrical portion of the contract. A local
partner, Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau AG, will be involved in the
assembly of the driver's cabs. This is possible thanks to the
modular design of these cabs.

The vehicles type NGT6, which are equipped with bogies, are 21
meters long and 2.3 meters wide. They offer a total passenger
capacity of 118. These features make the vehicles ideally suited
for medium-sized cities.
