I spoke with QCOM-IR and was told that Korea going with WCDMA makes no sense since the standard does not exist yet. When I asked why Korean carriers would make such comments, the answer was "probably negotiations". QCOM also reiterated to me that they prefer CDMA2000 because it's available now and they would rather make money sooner than later.
