re: hell awaits. Still puking.

No support in sight. The floor seems very squishy, more like quicksand.

The only unemotional interpretation of today's news is that the country that was most likely to champion MCCDMA has seen which way the wind is blowing, and is now in the DSCDMA camp. The best that can be said is that the Koreans are hedging their bets. But there are now no important players leading the charge for the standard that QCOM would prefer. The debate is over. DS won. It's all downhill now, for MC.

Now, the interesting question is, what fraction of royalties and chipset profits will QCOM get from DS? This will be less than for MC, but probably more than any other company's share. How big will the market be, and how soon? Can anyone come up with some numbers?

No flaming, please. Let's just try to figure out what's next.
