Detroit, July 7 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp. will work with Verizon Communications to begin offering a new calling service later this year called OnStar Personal Calling, the Los Angeles Times reported. GM expects OnStar Personal Calling will cover 90 percent of the U.S., while Mark Hogan, president of GM's electronic-commerce unit, said the company expects to become the largest wireless reseller in the U.S. by the end of the year because of the alliance. Subscribers of GM's OnStar satellite navigation and information system are forecasted to quadruple to 1 million by year's end and quadruple again to 4 million in 2003, the paper said.

Verizon was formed last Friday when Bell Atlantic Corp. completed its purchase of GTE Corp.
