isonics.com

im basically a "professional layperson" in regards to
semiconductor materials .. but .. based on the above
article from isonics, $10/chip additional cost may be
ok for high asp devices, but SOC/large asics which are
driving semi startups and networking may not benefit
from this. and thats for 35deg. jxn temp reduction can
be achieved thru many avenues including low voltage/power
design techniques (which probably have higher roi).

of course its really nice to have a new material so that
you can push the envelope in addition to all the design
and mecahnical techniques/inovations.

doesn't seem to be a slam dunk panacea. its good though.

what im curious is how pure it needs to be. isotopic
seperation is extremely dificault/expensive. again, from
my lay point of view, U235 seperation from U238 required
billions of dollars, but thats at extremely high purity
levels that i doubt is required here.

anyone else have an opinion?

cheers
