Jeff,
Well 20-20 finally ran their story on the UPCA scam.
They presented three scam victims, all males and all chat board participants, though 20-20 did not mention which chat board. They showed brief clips of SI, Yahoo! and what I believe may have been AOL. I didn't see any of the familiar puke yellow pages from Raging Bull, although I may have missed one or two if I blinked.
Gary Tabb was interviewed. The man has a slight physical resemblance to Rodney Dangerfield, but his voice and speech patterns are unmistakably those of Dangerfield. Of course, Tabb tried to absolve himself (and indirectly, UPCA) of any involvement or complicity in the matter. Tabb portrayed himself as a victim, and laid the entire mess right on Flores' doorstep. What a crock of chit. Off course, 20-20 was either too lazy or too uncaring to dig deeper and present the entire story. Nor did they "grill" tab. Rather a lame interview process, void of the "hard" questions.
Flores was also interviewed. And they also interviewed Flores' ex-wife. She confirmed that everything that Flores had in his "resume" was fictitious and fraudulent. In reality, Flores was a lettuce picker, among other forms of employment for migrant farm workers in Colorado. Colorado authorities also confirmed that he was in the Graybar Hotel during the supposed time frame that he (Flores) was developing the AIDS "cure". The murders that were committed were the parents of a friend of Flores, not Flores' parents, as was originally stated on one of the chat boards.
For his part, Flores refuses to give up the ghost. He still claims the product works and this and that and the next thing. All lies. When asked for confirmations and proof, he coyly replies that those answers are confidential. Another crock of BS.
At least the victims somewhat admitted their mistakes. And one even acknowledged his greed.
All in all, the 20-20 segment was way underdone in my opinion. They had a golden opportunity to do an expose and didn't. And they waited for summer re-run season to show the story. Seems to me that no one cares anywhere...
