i was in the checkout line at costco this evening. i began a conversation with the guy in front of me (i thought it was his canon multi-function peripheral on the counter, but it was the guy's in front of him).
we just fell into talking about computers (imagine that!) and i was mentioning personal firewalls, utility suites, operating systems...
and then he tells me he's the IT manager at a company with 1000+ employees. i started really picking his brain then! <g3> he lives where i do (very northern california) but said he works in sf. he said his company is an internet services firm that just ipo'd not long ago. i guessed, "you're not with PALM are you?", and he replied, "no, organic.com". eventually the guy had to leave (darn) but i checked organic out (OGNC). if you want to visit a very aesthetically pleasing site, and one that appears virtually seamless and intelligent, go here:
organic.com
see if you agree that it's a very impressive web site.
also, when i asked him if he has probs getting good employees, he totally said yes. they have recruiters bringing in people. so i glanced at their 'careers' page, then jobs by office and under sf. incredible picture of what the internet economy has come to.... so much demand for talent!
:)
