What evidence? The evidence strongly suggest extraordinary measure have been enacted and allowed which help prevent an innocent person from being put to death.

The fact that you cannot find one innocent person put to death is a testament to the systems sensitivity toward the accused. I doubt whether your "panacea pill" could ever pass such a rigorous examination over a span of 50 or 100 years.

Meanwhile, it's undoubtedly true that removing the death penalty would lead to more innocent people being killed by evil murdering thugs who have been let out on early parole.

Life sentence without parole is one solution I could live with. However, we still risk the lives of security personnel and other inmates who have to come in daily contact with these nut-cases. And they would have nothing to lose if they killed again. Therefore, killing them is the best of a bunch of lousy alternatives. Provided we remain open and circumpect to the potential failurs of our system.

So far we seem to be doing an excellent job of preventing innocent people from being killed by the state. Unless of course you have any real evidence showing otherwise.
