Hi mr mark,
The mystery is solved. It was Net Toob. How I tracked it down was that I waited for the gorilla to come back. When it did, there was a very small copyright credit to "Duplexx Software". I searched for this company and guess what, they produce "Net Toob".
I then looked at the Net Toob files. Previously, I was looking for *.scr, *.mpg, *.jpg, *.gif or any other familiar file types. It turns out they use *.m15, which is another explanation for the difficulty to track this.
It seems the default setting for Net Toob is to activate a Screen Saver independently of the normal Windows utility. Adding to the confusion is that it did not work all the time, just somewhat erratically.
Anyhow, I disconnected it, tested it and it seems OK now.
Thanks for all the help, working together with you and the thread made it possible. Proof again that working in a team is always the best way and this thread enables exactly that to happen. Again, thanks for your patience and time. DS |
