Re:I think Intel is horrified at the Frankenstein it created.

What a silly comment. RDRAM is aimed squarely at the performance end of the desktop PC market. RDRAM will be appropriately utilized by the P4 which has a FSB designed to match throughput with the 400MHZ RDRAM.

I am delighted that the 815 is showing great performance numbers as Intel redefines the value end of the PC market.
The P4 platforms with RDRAM will redefine the performance end of the market soon....

DDR is targeted at the mid to large scale server market where the memory systems are designed to support add on cards and where the busses are highly parallel and interleaved to achieve the necessary bandwidth and memory capacity. RAMBUS will collect royalties on the server DDR and also the graphics DDR SGRAM.

As to the patent issue. RAMBUS has the right to set the royalty fees at whatever level it desires. It also has the right to not license companies which are stealing its IP.
The RAMBUS patents are carefully drawn and cover the essential features of SDRAM and DDR DRAM. These patents IMO will not be overturned by the Federal Court. If there was any credible prior art it would have surfaced by now IMO.

Keep trying.....
