Too bad its performance is poorer than that of SDRAM. At least it costs 3 times as much. If somebody wants the most expensive machine available, and performance is no object - ring up another sale for RDRAM!

Most people, however, don't have that particular set of criteria. Which is why RDRAM machines have been running about 1% of sales, and that's before Intel substituted the 815 for the 820.

It looks like Sherry Garber's 6% sales estimate for RDRAM this year was hopelessly optimistic.

Well, as Rambus said last year, there's always next year - which is when Willamette gets its non-rambus chipset.
