I spent alot of my youth in the San Juan’s, and after, and it is a neat area. Lots of islands to explore and funky little towns on some of them.
It is possible that you may see some of the same Humpbacks that you saw around Maui. They leave the birthing and mating grounds and migrate to feeding grounds along the coasts of Japan, Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.
Not many Humpbacks wander into the San Juan’s but more have been showing up along the Washington and British Columbia coastlines in the last 3 years-so bring those pictures and you may be able to ID a few of them!
BTW, I was not 'tagging' Humpbacks off Maui, I was recording the male's singing their songs and trying to make a correlation between two singers in the same area and the affects they had on each other and other females in the immediate area.
In the San Juan's and Puget Sound you are more likely to see Killer Whales and maybe a few Gray Whales. Sea Lions, Seals for sure.
I have lived in Victoria B.C. and have a few of my children still living there. It is the retirement capital of Canada with an English flair and now an urban sprawl taking over the country-side. Neat little farm communities within minutes of the little city of Victoria.

Like K. said-probably more than you wanted to know but if you are going out there I thought I would give a short overview.
