Would the child's "choice" include choice of language? Diet? Morals? etc, etc. This would be a rational place?? The problem is that any system offering such choices would long ago have lost most of the choices to the necessities of daily life. A child making the choice to speak French would have serious problems if his friends, teachers and parents all spoke Swahili, e.g. Is female circumcision coercion, or is the outlawing of it coercive?
