My prediction that you would not address the thousands of people killed by previous murderers came true. A=A when it comes to predicting your denial of reality.

In a perfect utopian prison system, everyone would take your "panacea pill" and be guilty with zero defects until infinity. Everyone would serve out his term of life imprisonment without parole and not cause harm to others while incarcerated, and everyone early paroled would become model citizens. It's a beautiful vision Terry, Unfortunately, we have reality to deal with and the evidence is overwhelming that innocent people would be killed by murdering thugs if we rescinded the death penalty everywhere. Contrast that with not being able to find *one* innocent person put to death by the system in the last 100 years and A does indeed equal A. :)

Mourn for the evil killers all you like Terry, I prefer to mourn for the victims and live in a world dominated by reality in order to prevent more of them from being killed in the future.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't be very careful as a society to execute only those whom are truly guilty evil killers.

Thanks for giving me this opportunity to examine the studies and evidence which supported my original assumption that we're doing a darn good job of it thus far. Zero evidence of a wrongful execution in 100 years is a pretty good track record. Additionally, I see no reason not to believe that heightened awareness of a potential mistake, as well as advances in scientific methods of police work will alter this stellar track record in the future.

The fear you live with regarding the incident in your youth is simply that. Fears which are not based in reality do not equal A. There aren't black coated agents putting innocent people to death in the United States. So relax and enjoy life. :)
