Lucius: Bravo ! Cheers ! Right on ! Yes ! Congratulations!

In other words, you have just posted the best insight I have seen on the CDMA2000 and WCDMA relationship I have read in all the many years I have followed CDMA and the Q.

Your ice cream analogy captures the relationship of CDMA2000 and WCDMA.

Now since I like analogies and mixed metaphors also (as I like your approach to small stakes as a memory aide), here goes an attempt to build on your analogy.

CDMA2000 is not only vanilla but it has sprinkles and M&M's on it which make the Samsung data rates of up to 15Mpbs possible in connecting to the internet.

WCDMA has a cone which is a waffle cone so that it can be enough different from CDMA2000 (which uses a plain 'ole cone) to allow it seem enough different to GSMers, that the will swallow it.

Now my add ons may not be quite the right ones, but your basic idea the the ice cream maker (Qualcomm) can produce both the ice cream (CDMA/HDR) and the cones (chipsets) for both vanilla (CDMA2000) and chocolate (WCDMA) is a beautiful, clear and imaginative insight.

Thanks.
