Drive Image ...
This program runs in DOS mode. The executable occupies less than one Meg of disk and will fit, and run, from a 1.44 floppy.
Compression levels available are none, low, and high. I use high and get about 2:1 reduction. I've saved an image of my 'bare-bones' Win98 system in an image file of 94Meg and my full system images run 170Meg. The latter gets split onto 2 Zip disks along with some stuff needed for recovery.
My test question is "If DELL shipped me a new, blank, hard-drive, am I able to re-create my system?" In other words, I want what I need available on separate media. Fortunately, until now, all my system disasters have been software related and easily corrected by replacing corrupted files with fresh working copies.
I haven't done it yet, but I'm sure that my system, and the software to re-create it would fit and run from a single CD. After all, I can do this from 2, 100Meg Zip disks now.
