Thoughts on RMBS in the short term:

I bought RMBS calls earlier this year in anticipation of the Spring Intel Developers Forum (IDF). This is where Intel make product and roadmap announcements.

Fall IDF starts on August 22. I anticipate this event will once again be good for RMBS investors. Expect at least a launch date for Wilamette, along with explanations of why Rambus is essential for the new processor. Also expect announcements on the delayed Timna, which is expected to support Rambus only.

Here is a preview of an IDF technical track entitled "Integrating a Performance-Balanced System". Note the repeated use of the word "Rambus".

Meanwhile, RMBS is pressuring the memory industry to licence their SDRAM technology. Time is running out for potential licencees as RMBS threaten not to grant licences for those that violate their IP.
