Nihil, I did some pressure experiments with bacteria and brine shrimp about 15 years ago, and was surprised to find out that the brine shrimp can tolerate 12,000 P.S.I. for about 15 minutes, and many bacteria much higher. In fact I was not able to consistently sterilize food at 30,000 P.S.I. Sterilization under pressure was the goal. It occurred some times but not always. If the right bacteria was present, it didn't work. Life is capable of living under very extreme conditions, especially if it has a chance to evolve slowly to the changing conditions.

I also discovered that ants can survive a hard vacuum for a short period. It makes 'em kind of dizzy, but they snap out of it.
