LindyBill: Suggest that the price of SDLI reflects skepticism that the merger will be permitted by the US DOJ.

If the merger falls through the offer price is moot.

But both JDSU and SDLI are excellent companies in their own right, so in worst case (no merger) still worth considering after DD - IMO.

Which to buy depends on fundamentals of each with the merger as frosting and with major risk of "modification" at a minimum IMO.

So which to give preference to depends on judgement of relative merits as separate companies and then judgement of likelihood merger will happen.
