Also from Yahoo board: Briefing.com mentions Lightpath. With the IBD and the Money mag nods that made for the gap up open...nice.

The following is from briefing.com. It suggests that LPTHA will trade up strong as a fiber-optics play. Go, LPTHA!

09:57 ET Fiber Movers : SDLI +22... NUFO +19 1/4... AVNX +10 1/4... EXFO +6 1/2... SCMR +6... MRVC +5 1/2... BKHM +4 3/4... LPTHA +3 1/2.

09:32 ET ******

Fiber-Optic Plays: : With JDS Uniphase paying such a premium to acquire SDLI, a number of similar plays are trading up in pre-market activity. The three most likely to benefit are New Focus (NUFO 81 1/2), Avanex (AVNX 106 3/4) and Bookham Technology (BKHM 64 5/16). While all three are trading above the 153x price-to-sales premium SDLI received, they will trade strongly out of the gate. These companies currently trade at p/s ratios of 170.3x, 312.5x and 800+x, respectively. Corning (GLW 256 11/16) would be the most likely suitor as they have previously expressed interest in making an acquisition in the component space. Other possibilities include Alcatel (ALA 70 1/2), Nortel Networks (NT 71 1/8) and Lucent (LU 55 33/256). There are a number of secondary plays that are not really in the same space or are the quality of a company like SDLI and would never demand such a premium, but they will likely trade up on the news. Some of these names are Lumenon Technology (LUMM 22 5/8), LightPath Technologies (LPTHA 36 7/8), MRV Communications (MRVC 61 15/16), and Precision Optics Corp. (POCI 17 3/4). Interestingly, the last couple of times there has been a major catalyst in this space (one time it was a deal announced, another time it was a positive pre-announcement), the stocks gapped up out the box, but traded lower during the day. Then, the following day the stocks recovered and traded very strongly. -- Robert J. Reid, Briefing.com
