There are plenty of examples of persistent hoaxes Dan. A.D.D. (Attention Deficit Order) for example is supposedly a clinically and medically diagnosable disorder centered in brain chemistry and functioning. No factual evidence exists for this yet plenty of kids are getting the label. All you need do is have a normal IQ and stop obeying school work directives of any kind and ta da you are handicapped. Amazing how many of the A.D.D. afflicted youth become cured after the twelfth grade.
