Beginning of this year, BEAS made few major deals worth several millions. China Post and Abbey National are examples. I was hoping that they would continue with more big deals .. but not much is happening lately. At least, we do not hear any big announcements.

I am sure that BEAS sales men are simply collecting orders for 1-2 licenses of WebLogic every day. The volume may be big enough for BEAS to meet their earnings expectations. That is not good enough though!

Despite the new attention and the recent market success, BEAS should not lose sight of large corporate deals. It is clear that all corporations are engaged in major post Y2k IT modernization. This is the time to show them how good WLE is, how much it is capable of leveraging and eventually replacing their mainframe apps, how comprehensive and advanced it is compared to MTS/Silverstream/Iona/.. is. This is the time to get WLE introduced as the Corporate Computing Framework.

I don't see a reason why corporates should not come in droves and buy BEAS WLE, like they bought SAP 5-6 years ago. That is if BEAS has the right sales people that can work with the corporates and close few big ones.

I like Coleman's optimism and confidence about his company. He should be able to take BEAS above $80 and split 2-1.
