Thanks for your thought out response.

Personally, I think the formation of the other thread was a little too abrupt. I think if you are going to have an open moderated thread there needs to be open discussion about who the moderator is.

Yes, I think the whole setup was a bit clandestine. You could feel the flurry of PM's the past few weeks. Makes you wonder why there could not be an open discussion.

Mani has historically shown he is capable of erupting when responding to certain types of posts. This puts some fear in me as to how he will respond to these inevitable posts. But I shouldn't be so presumptuous. Mani has also shown he can be a calm guy who can effectively get his point across in a proper manner. I sincerely hope this is how he acts as the moderator because, as we know, being a moderator requires responsibility and issues are almost guaranteed. As far as the thread being moderated in general, I think it should have also been discussed more openly.

I have noticed his eruptions from time to time but I agree he can be rational and informative at other times.

Being a moderated thread brings benefits such as the ability to control rude posts, which have plagued this thread for a long time. But it also brings responses like yours and Elmer's that one person's control seems overbearing. Maybe this could have been resolved if it was openly discussed. Maybe it can still be slightly resolved with a revised original post.

At this point its a done deal in my mind....and I am ready to let it go.

I got into AMD after following the K6 and will always always follow AMD's processors even if I ever sell my stock. But I'll know which thread to post on if that ever happens...

The same...
