I think that the only way you should go out there is if they have taken measures to ensure that the Gizmo family doesn't become the host family to the head lice.

Here is how I would come to my final answer: If I went to a friend's lake house and I found out that my kids had head lice, I would call my friend and tell him the sitch and suggest that we needed to get rid of the lice on heads and home before we got together for the BBQ. I wouldn't even think of subjecting another family to the potential for infestation and wouldn't expect somebody that I consider a friend to act any differently.
