I see people as loving to organize (a good thing) but unfortunately prone to organize against each other (a bad thing). I find religion caters to this love of organization and group support (a good thing) but also caters to the human tendency to exclude and hurt outsiders (a bad thing).

My experience with agnostics (via the Unitarian church) has been the odd experience of watching organization without exclusion. The Unitarian Church excludes no one. It's very odd- hence my comment about agnostics- but that is of course about real THINKING agnostics. It is a comment about people who have evaluated religions, and themselves, and come up with a self sustaining system of the universe that does not involve a deity (but could, if one were to show his, her or it self) - or who have accepted uncertainty, after scrutinizing the "certainty" that was available.
